We’re delighted to announce that Beach Sprint Academy has awarded its very first scholarship to Jack Hehir of Rosscarbery Rowing Club, Cork, Ireland.

Jack was one of the very first athletes ever to attend BSA, and from the outset his enthusiasm for beach sprint and his drive to push himself stood out. Coming from a country where beach sprint is still developing, we felt it was important to back an athlete willing to lead the way, put in the work, and commit fully to the process.

This scholarship is about support, not shortcuts. Through it, Jack will receive continuous coaching and assessment, structured and evolving training plans, and ongoing guidance both in Ireland and in Spain. He will also have the opportunity to train alongside high-performance athletes based in Spain, learning from their standards, habits, and daily approach to training.

At BSA, athletes train in a unique environment that blends performance with practicality. Our base in Torrevieja offers immediate access to the sea, allowing seamless transitions between gym work and on-water sessions. Athletes benefit from year-round training conditions, a fully equipped on-site gym, and direct exposure to real coastal and beach sprint race environments. This setup allows us to assess, adapt, and support athletes continuously, rather than working off short blocks or one-off camps.

Ander Martín, CEO and co-founder of Beach Sprint Academy, said:
“I’m really excited to see how Jack develops over the coming months and into next year. We’re committed to helping him in every possible way to achieve his dreams, and we know he has the passion to succeed in the sport.”

Eimear McCormack, COO and co-founder of Beach Sprint Academy, added:
“We are proud to award the very first scholarship in the young history of Beach Sprint Academy. Jack being one of the first athletes ever to attend BSA makes this a particularly special moment for us. We’re excited to support his journey and to see how he progresses over the next while.”

This scholarship reflects what Beach Sprint Academy stands for: long-term athlete development, consistent support, and giving committed athletes the tools they need to move themselves forward. The work will always be done by the athlete, but we’re proud to be part of Jack’s journey and to support him every step of the way.
